Each time my homeschool high schoolers have hit senior year, I have a minor panic:

  • Have we covered enough academics?
  • Are they college ready?
  • Did they have enough extracurricular experience to develop interests and talents?
  • Are they settled enough in their faith?
  • Do they have enough friends?
  • Can they get a REAL job?
  • And so on…and so on…

But I’ve learned not to dwell there too long. I’ve learned the answers to the questions:

  • Did they have enough extracurricular experience to develop interests and talents?
  • Are they settled enough in their faith?
    • I’ve learned that I must trust God with the journey…and do some Apologetics review.
  • Do they have enough friends?
    • They have friends now. They have social skills, they’ll use them to make new friends at college or career. If they are not feeling very confident, download our 10 necessary social skills curriculum AND show them this video.

Now that those questions are out of the way, we can concentrate on understanding the rhythms of homeschool senior year. They are different than other years, of course, because the future is looming! But don’t worry, you and your senior will be fine!
