Homeschool Highschool Podcast Ep 62: Poetry- Writing Poetry

Homeschool Highschool Podcast Episode 62: Writing Poetry- CAN Do!

Several years ago, I was teaching writing to the local homeschool highschool co-op. In that class was a young man who loved to work with his hands. He did NOT love writing. He was certain that he couldn’t write poetry and would hate it.

We won him over! By the end of the class, he was loving poetry as much as the teens who were born spouting couplets and haiku. How? The right attitude and right curriculum!

Join Sabrina, Vicki and Marilyn for how’s and why’s of creating poetry in homeschool highschool. Your teens will love poetry writing, also!

We really think teens should dabble in poetry! While you may not be able to get your teens to love poetry we can help with learning about poetry. Creative writing can help your students write better technical papers.

We have tips to help you balance the learning of poetry while not destroying any hopes of reading or writing it again.

Back in the old days poetry was a huge part of education. Memorizing and reading poetry is a discipline of the thoughts, just like musicians practice playing classic pieces to tune their ears.

We even have fun ways to start out your kids with writing poetry.

Don’t forget none of our kids have to be perfect in poetry, stay focused on the process and praise the efforts.

Also, for teens who get excited and want a full year/full credit of poetry, here’s a syllabus for a poetry credit to walk them through the process.
