So many of our homeschooling friends are enjoying 7Sisters One Year ELA series, However, we have had many requests from our 7th Sisters for a syllabus for One More Year English/Language Arts 11. Thus, our wonderful Stacey Lane Clendaniel has put together one more syllabus for ELA.

As you remember, English/Language Arts is a huge credit each year, covering:

A Final Year of High School English/Language Arts

Course Title: A Final Year of High School English/Language Arts

Length:

32 weeks

Curriculum:

A Final Year of High School English/Language Arts by Sabrina Justison, by 7Sisters Homeschool

Description:

A full-year, adaptable English credit. Books and movies from various literary genres were selected for learning literary analysis. Students will complete four genres of writing assignments: research papers, essays, short stories, and poetry. Vocabulary and grammar are included in literature and writing guides and with resources suggested, if needed. Public speaking is included, using provided guides.

Goals:

Students will complete literature, cinema, writing and speaking guides to increase competence in literature analysis skills, reasoning and inferential skills, complete a research paper, to gain confidence with writing essays, short stories and poetry as well as skills in public speaking.

Please note that all 3 research guides have been included and already completed in earlier years. Please select which style best serves your student and refer to earlier years for a schedule.

Schedule:

The curriculum is designed to cover all the components of the English/Language Arts credit. Most of the Literature and Cinema guides have assignments for all 5 days of the week. Most of the writing guides have assignments for 4 days of the week. Occasionally Friday is scheduled for a catch-up day. Public Speaking is scheduled for one week in the first semester and three weeks in the second semester.

Note: Vocabulary from the literature and cinema guides can be done all at once at the beginning, as you read along or all at the end of the book. Grammar is mentioned as an optional depending on what you have decided to use.
