Essays: Step-by-step, day-by-day, no-busywork essay writing guides. High schoolers work through one 10-week guide per year with the Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced, and College Application Essay Writing Guides.
Poetry: Any teen can (and should) learn to use words poetically. 7Sisters takes teens from novice to confident with fun poetry writing experiences. Consider one 5-6 week guide per year using the Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced Guides, and then American and/or World Poetry Reading and Writing Guides for senior year.
Real-World Writing: Learning to write for professional settings is a life-skill as well as an ELA skill! Use 3 lessons per year from the 11 total in High School Guide to Professional Writing, or choose to add-on individual guides for slow-spots in your year.
Research Papers: No need to feel intimidated! We guide teens through the process with step-by-step, daily instructions. One guide per year, using our suggestions to adapt the schedule from 6 to 10 weeks. A typical (but not required) order for the guides is APA —> a first experience with MLA —> a second experience with MLA —> CHICAGO. Under-experienced writers might start with Research Writing Readiness, then use APA —> MLA —> Chicago.
Short Stories: These downloadable PDF guides are for creative teens and reluctant writers alike! Students move step-by-step through the story-creating process in a way that is non-threatening and fun! Recommended (but not required) order: Family Narrative —> Tall Tales —> Myth/Fantasy —> Creative Chronicling.
